While reconnecting with his father and the village way of life, he unexpectedly find...。故事发生在五十年代的北京。一天，父亲（金振武 饰）为华子（吴涛 饰）和云云（唐寒 饰）带回来一位中年妇女，告诉他俩这将是他们的继母（郑振瑶 饰）。刚开始，八岁的华子和六岁的妹妹极不欢迎继母的到来，时常故意惹她生气。继母没什么文化，但心地善良，她原谅孩子们年少无知，像亲妈一样疼他们。为了不给家里增加经济负担，唯一的女儿被她远嫁内蒙。她终日劳累，希望继子将来能考上大学。渐渐长大的华子（邢岷山 饰）不忍看继母一把年纪还整日为他人洗衣赚钱，但继母决心供孩子们学业有成。多年过后，孩子们各自实现人生目标，操劳一辈子的继母却在病痛中撒手人寰......。
